Fish death

Well I went to the pet shop and they explained what may be the cause of the fish death. Some sort of parasite. They advised me to do a water change more often. It means you have to let water out of the fish tank itself , not just ad new water all the time. They also said that tap water is under pressure and I can’t just ad the water directly to the fish tank. I have to wait 48 hours or so for the water to change pressure before I add it to the tank. Hopefully this will change the situation as I want to buy some nice new fish again. It looks empty with just 4 fishes in it .

A new term

And so the holiday has come to an end. It’s really sad, sad and sad. It’s sunday night and i still have to decide what work to give the students. Do i bombard them to get them on the go fast or do I let them ease into the final mounth of study before the exam begin. I think shock tactics should do the trick……………….

Rainbow’s last end

Sad news again, The last rainbow fish I had also died. I really tried to figure out what was wrong but couldn’t. It survived from the start until now. I couldn’t see any bacteria and outside defects. It just all of a sudden started to swim close to the surface and didn’t eat at all. I had to kill it actually, that was the horrible thing about this episode, otherwise it would have starved to death probably. It also swam into the sides of the fish tank and in circles, just without any aim. Maybe a virus or some bacteria on the brain? I couldn’t keep it in the fish tank any longer, the pet shop owner said it could infect the other fish as well. The two algea-eating fish are doing great, they grow very fast indeed and are very fast swimmers, it boggles the mind actually. So they and the other 4 moonlight swimmers still give me great pleasure to watch.

Suspension saga continued………

Yesterday  a letter was delivered ( at their respective homes) to come back this coming monday lol. I don’t know if reasons were being given or what is standing in the letters they got, but now it’s ok, they have to report back for duty. Does this happen in other countries too? (first world countries?)

Strange things happening

I recently (in the general tab) told you about the problems at work. Three of my colleagues have been suspended just like that ( no warning, no consultation) because apparently they negatively influenced the students . They actually told the students the truth about their studies. So the students complained again and now they want their money back. The lecturers who enrolled them should have told them the truth about their studies, these suspended lecturers were merely trying to help the students. Ok, se we were shocked.

Another one bites the, mmm , water.

Another one of my fish died. No illness, , it became just caught up between the glass and the pipe of the pump which sucks out water from the tank. *cry*

The new song

Well, we practiced the song. At first the congregation struggled a bit but after the 2nd and 3rd try it went smooth. It’s really a well thought out song, and it sounds brilliant when a whole congregation of 300 and more sings it together. Tomorrow the lead singer (Sandra) will help me in stydying in the song a bit further and to look at more finer detail

Church music this time….

Next Sunday I want to start to learn the congregation a new “song” It’s quite long and in places quite fast, but hopefully they will catch on quick. It’s a composition from one of SA’s well known composers, Chris Lambrecht.  Watch this space for a comment on how it went…..

Fish Fish Fish

No, no pictures just yet…..

I’m actually very sad, two of my fishes just died. Just dead, no illness, nothing I could see went wrong.

One was just floating on the water the other one was against a pipe in the water system. ( They didn’t die at the same time) Maybe I put in too much salt, or too much new tap water? but then why didn’t the other fish die? I guess I’ll never know. In the end I’m still glad I bought the tank, it’s nice to watch all the fishes and just to relax in front of them.

My new Fish tank

Well , after some time ( 2 years as a matter of fact) I finally decided to buy a fish tank and put some tropical fish in it. I started to think about this some time back and decided I should also have something that I should take care of, since I’m still single hehehe. The whole idea of fishes just started to make sense, don’t ask me how or why, I just decided I have to do it.

Well the first fish in are moonlight Gouramis. They look silverish with a slight green color on the top just after the head. Very nice ! I decided on colourful gravel and added some old ships and plastic plants ( for now) as well. Today I’m gonna add some rainbow fish. I hope they don’t jump out too much since I read that they are jumpers. Well I’ll take pics and show you the setup as soon as I can !
